Helping museums in the East Midlands to serve the public better

Museum Development

The East Midlands Museum Development Network was set up as part of Renaissance East Midlands (led by Leicestershire County Council)  in 2007 and currently operates across the region supporting museums towards a sustainable future.   It does this through running focused development programmes for a small cohort of museums (in 2011/12 these focused on the themes of fundraising, improving collections management, improving volunteering, board succession planning and improving the quality of the visitor experience) and by providing regular access to information and guidance, while also supporting the county forum network who have a collective membership of over 200 museums. The museum development network also advocates to stakeholders and associated organisations, the value and role of the rich diversity of museums across the region.
