09 September 2010
Location
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery
Chamberlain Square
Birmingham
B3 3DH
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery are running a FREE "Innovative Approaches to editing and displaying oral histories" seminar aimed at building knowledge and providing new ideas for staff working in this area.
The seminar will look at issues and challenges relating to the selection and editing of already recorded oral history interviews, along with innovative ways of displaying oral history material in museum galleries and on the internet.
The day will include contributions from staff at the Imperial War Museum and at Herbert Media (part of the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry) amongst others.
Free refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
The seminar has been arranged specifically to help Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery's staff explore the latest thinking in editing and displaying oral histories for the development of its new history galleries that are due to open in 2012. However, we would also like to allocate up to fifteen free places to wider Hub museum staff, local museums and heritage organisations.
Booking details:
If you would like to book a place on this seminar, please email: liz.taylor@birmingham.gov.uk with your name, job title, organisation and contact details. Please let Liz know if you have any dietary or access requirements. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Liz will send a confirmation email once she has received your booking.
