Helping museums in the East Midlands to serve the public better
EMMS Emergency Plan
The new, revised EMMS Emergency Manual for Historic Buildings & Collections
The EMMS Emergency Manual for Historic Buildings and Collections template has been used successfully in museums and heritage organisations throughout the UK and overseas for 20 years.
The revised 2011 edition incorporates the experience gained through training over 50 museums in the East Midlands, supporting museums and emergency response networks in other regions, and running the East Midlands’ REDS (Regional Emergencies and Disaster Support) Service.
Key Features of the new EMMS Emergency Manual:

- Takes a holistic approach to emergency planning and disaster management:
- Addresses the requirements of the MLA’s Accreditation Standard for museums and galleries.
- Downloadable, interactive and flexible – enabling several people to work through the planning together and adapt the template to suit their own organisation’s needs.
- Easy to understand format, supported by full Guidance Notes.
- Can be supported by EMMS training and advice (contact us for further details).
- Tried and tested!
